Which Boss Chair? Start With the Upholstery.
LeatherPlus, CaressoftPlus, antimicrobial vinyl or mesh: how the four Boss materials differ, and where each one belongs.

When someone asks us which Boss chair to buy, we don’t start with the arms or the base. We start with what the chair is covered in, because that decides how it wears, how it cleans and who should sit in it.
Boss uses four upholsteries across the range. Two are its own named materials, LeatherPlus and CaressoftPlus. One is built for clinics. The fourth is plain mesh. Here’s what each one is, what it costs on our site, and where we’d put it.
Four materials, compared
Counts and prices are Boss chairs on our site with that material in the name, as of October 2026. Prices are list; volume orders are quoted separately.

| What it is | Leather infused with polyurethane, for a softer hand and a longer life than bonded leather. | Boss’s trademarked vinyl. Looks and feels like leather, breathes better, and is harder to scuff. | Vinyl treated to resist microbes, on frames where the back and seat separate so every seam can be wiped. | An open-weave back that lets air through. Often paired with a padded fabric or LeatherPlus seat. |
| Cleans with | A damp cloth | A damp cloth | Clinical disinfectant | Vacuum and spot clean |
| Runs cool | Warmer over a long day | Better than most vinyl | Warmer over a long day | Coolest of the four |
| Where we’d put it | Private offices and conference rooms where the chair is seen | Shared desks and reception, where everyone uses it | Exam rooms, labs and waiting areas that get disinfected | Open plan and call teams, all-day task seating |

Mesh has the widest price spread because it covers everything from a guest chair to contract task seating. If budget is the first question, start there.
When 275 pounds isn’t enough
